How do I set the correct file permissions for Magento?

Magento installation out of the box does not use the correct and safe file permissions for our servers.

Please follow our guide in GitHub to set the correct file permissions.

Magento Connect Manager

Make sure that Magento Connect Manager sets the correct file permissions after an installation or upgrade.

1. Go to Magento Connect Manager --> Settings.

2. Under Use custom permissions, select "Yes" and:-
- Folders: 755
- Files: 644

3. Click Save Settings
